Day of Reflection with Margaret Silf - "Just Call Me Lopez"

‘Just Call Me Lopez’

A story of imperfection and grace

How does a man as dysfunctional as Ignatius Loyola was in his early years become a beacon of wisdom and spiritual guidance five hundred years on?

This day of reflection invites you to join in a journey of discovery into the real heart of Ignatius Loyola. We will pause at some of the significant moments in his life – some light-hearted, and others deeply serious - and reflect on the connections these incidents evoke in our own journeys. What might we learn today from this man who lived over 500 years ago? Can we bring him down from the pedestal of sainthood and allow him to introduce himself as he really was – deeply flawed, limping, and recklessly open to the flow of God’s grace? And can we recognize, in this story, the reality of that same divine grace flowing through our own imperfections?
